So I thought I’d share a little behind-the-scenes look at some new developments and plans for where Catholic Religion Teacher is heading next. It’s been a bit of a process, but I’m super excited for what’s ahead!

During the summer months I like to take a step back and reflect on where CRT has been and where I think God is calling it to head next.

With the help of all your generous feedback (via emails, surveys, Happy Hours, etc.), the wisdom of my wonderful wife, and some prayerful discernment, I think I’ve figured it out!
For starters, it seems like the Holy Spirit is encouraging me to do two main things:
- Broaden my mission
- Narrow my focus
That might seem a little counterintuitive, but here’s how it’s played out…
First, “Broadening my mission”
When I revisited the mission statement of CRT I saw that it was mainly focused on creating classroom resources for teachers (don’t worry, I’m still going to do this! More details on this below…). 😊
But in this last year the Lord has really opened my heart to want to serve and support teachers with more than just curriculum (more on this below as well!).
And so, I tossed out the old mission statement and created a brand-new, more all-encompassing one:

Next up, “Narrowing my focus”
After spending many days and nights trying to do “ALL-THE-THINGS” and realizing I wasn’t doing any of them great, I’ve decided to make a change and hone in on just a few areas.
So, moving forward, there are 3 main things I’ll be giving the majority of my time and attention to:
1. Creating Classroom Resources
Y’all have chimed in and said you want MANY MORE religion lessons (and posters!) to use in your classrooms, so I’ll definitely be working on this!
First up: THE BIBLE DITTY! (my favorite unit of all time!!!)
After that?
We shall see… (Any requests?)
2. Building Community
As one teacher said during a Happy Hour this spring, “Sometimes being a theology teacher can feel like being on an island all by yourself”.
I totally get that, as I experienced that same feeling off and on for 14 years myself…
So, for starters, CRT Happy Hours are here to stay! (YAY!!!) 🥳

Come meet and learn from other teachers of the faith and walk away renewed and inspired! My goal will be one happy hour a month starting in September.
In addition, look for more CRT Spotlights and an upcoming invitation to participate in one-on-one “Get to Know You” Zoom calls!
Have any other ideas for building community? Please let me know!
3. Offering Spiritual Support
Teaching isn’t easy. And teaching the faith definitely isn’t easy! Heck, LIFE isn’t easy! So, you can count on me continuing to pray for you every day.
I’ll also continue praying for your students, your colleagues, your schools, and your loved ones, but as many of you have done in the past, please don’t hesitate to send me specific prayer intentions as well. I’m more than happy to add them to the list!
Lastly, I’ll soon be announcing a new opportunity that I wish would have been available to me YEARS ago… Be sure you’re subscribed to my email list to hear about this exciting announcement in the next week or so! 😊
So, there you have it! A little behind-the-scenes look at what’s to come.
Thanks for taking a chance on me and joining up on this journey. I feel blessed to serve you and can’t wait to share more great things ahead!
God bless you!
In Christ,
Greg
