August is almost upon us… Can you believe it?

My guess is you are in one of two camps: Either super excited to go back to school or absolutely dreading it.

Either way, one thing that might be fun to think about (it was something I always looked forward to!) is how you’re going to organize and decorate your classroom this school year.

For me this always meant numerous desk rearrangements and tons of classroom cleaning and organizing. 

But it also meant…

🥳 NEW POSTERS!!! 🥳

You may already know about my obsession with classroom posters, but if not, well, here are a few snapshots of my classroom walls:

A little overboard? Maybe. 😉 But after experiencing first hand how impactful certain posters could be I started dedicating more and more time to creating them. In the end, I discovered 7 main ways a well-chosen poster can have a HUGE impact in one’s classroom.

Of course, I shouldn’t have been so surprised at the power of these posters. After all, companies pay boat loads of money to get images of their products in front of kids!

But why would they do that?

BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT WORKS.

And if image-based advertising does such a good job of selling soda and Smartphones, why aren’t we also utilizing it to help “sell” the faith?

Again, I saw first hand (year after year!) just how powerful something as simple as a poster could be in my classroom. I was shocked, but I shouldn’t have been.

And so, I propose 3 questions that might be worth thinking about before the start of this school year:

1. If you could reference and reiterate specific messages to your students throughout the year, what would they be?

2. What’s holding you back from turning these messages into visuals that your students would be able to learn from and be inspired by all year long?

3. How incredibly cool would it be to have a classroom decked out with fun, attractive, inspiring, and thought-provoking posters that show off the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Catholic faith???
